Fernbrooke State School

34 modules installed in 2 days!

Fleetwood was contracted to deliver a design and construct solution for Fernbrooke State School for primary students and staff. The project made up a portion of the school’s master plan that saw a hazardous space converted into classrooms to create an enclosed outside play area between all classrooms for a specific section of the school. In addition to the delivery and installation of the classrooms, Fleetwood completed further civil and site works as part of the project.

The project saw 13 modules delivered, which encompassed 405 square metres. A full turnkey solution covering all aspects of the delivery of the project was provided with Fleetwood responsible for the initial site set-up, the off-site prefabrication of the buildings along with onsite works including the civil design, redirection of water storage, removal of old storm water pits along with new stormwater pit system, removal of retaining walls and landscaping to surrounding areas. The buildings delivered were a prototype that have since been rolled out to a range of schools across the state for the Queensland Department of Education and Training.

Moving from outdated legacy buildings to a specifically designed education building all within 14 weeks was a major benefit for the school who required these facilities to allow for the future growth of the campus. The school has also been able to make use of hazardous space on campus due to the semi-permanent design and brick work incorporated that has produced a much more desirable façade. The building was also built up-spec to trial new insulation ideas to counteract excessively hot days successfully.
