Shenton Park Dogs’ Refuge Home

11 module new administration and education training centre

The Dogs’ Refuge Home engaged Fleetwood to design a new Adoption and Education Centre in Shenton Park, which was funded by a grant from Lotterywest. Established in 1935, it is one of the oldest animal welfare agencies in Australia with the new building the central point to the Dog’s Refuge Home. The facility has helped maximise their efficiencies in the dog adoption process, care for dogs, and educating the community on responsible dog ownership.

The project involved the design and construction of the new Administration and Education Centre consisting of 11 modules in total. The new building features office spaces, meeting rooms, retail space, training and an education room with staff facilities. The entire design and construction phase was completed in five months; with minimal disruptions to the day-to-day operations of the Dogs’ Refuge Home, neighbouring businesses and residential homes.

The Dogs’ Refuge Home can care for up to 150 unwanted and abandoned dogs at any time now. With the new facility allowing the organisation to properly accommodate its staff and volunteers who help with running the refuge. The facility will now be able to save hundreds of unwanted, neglected, abandoned and abused dogs for years to come as the inner-city boarding services in Shenton Park continues to grow and help the local community.
