Overview

In partnership with the Department of Education, Fleetwood Australia implemented the Removal and Renewal QLD 2025 program. This initiative aimed to upgrade school infrastructure through sustainable modular construction.

The project involved removing aging modular classrooms from Arundel, Crestmead, and Ipswich Central, and strategically reusing and reinstalling buildings at Pimpama, Coomera Rivers, and Norfolk State Schools. Fleetwood’s modular delivery model allowed the Department to revitalise existing assets, reducing waste, avoiding unnecessary manufacturing, and accelerating project timelines.

With a proven track record in educational infrastructure, Fleetwood’s approach combines speed, precision, and environmental responsibility. Each location received a customised solution, delivered with minimal disruption to learning environments and maximising long-term value.

Solution

Fleetwood utilised prefabricated modular buildings that were manufactured off-site and then transported for seamless installation. This approach offered the Department of Education several advantages:

  • The ability to reuse high-quality existing modular buildings
  • A reduction in the need for new construction
  • The avoidance of unnecessary demolition waste
  • The delivery of consistent, code-compliant facilities across multiple locations

The project scope included site removal, upgrades, transportation, installation, and service connections across six different sites. The ability to move and reuse buildings demonstrated the adaptability and long-term value of modular construction in the education sector.

Benefits

Sustainable by Design: Modular buildings were reused and repositioned, helping to reduce embodied carbon and waste.

Faster Turnaround: Off-site manufacturing and smart logistics enabled efficient upgrades with minimal disruption to school operations.

Cost-Effective and Scalable: This approach enabled the Department to manage assets effectively across multiple sites while reducing capital expenditures.

Trusted Delivery: Fleetwood’s expertise in the education sector ensured that all work met the Department of Education’s standards and was completed according to the specified requirements.
