Fleetwood welcomes Queensland Housing Minister as MMC program homes delivered

Fleetwood welcomed the Hon. Sam O’Connor MP, Queensland Minister for Housing and Public Works and Minister for Youth, to its Crestmead manufacturing facility to mark the delivery of modular homes under the Queensland Government’s Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) program.

During the visit, the Minister toured Fleetwood’s Queensland operations, inspected a modular show home and witnessed the newly manufactured modular homes being loaded onto trucks for delivery to Dalby in Queensland’s Western Downs region. 

The event also included an apprenticeship recognition ceremony, where Fleetwood Chief Executive Officer Andrea Pidcock addressed employees and invited the Minister to present two Fleetwood apprenticeship awards, recognising their transition to qualified trades and their contribution to the company’s growing modular workforce.

Fleetwood Chief Executive Officer Andrea Pidcock said the visit highlighted both the scale of Fleetwood’s Queensland operations and the contribution modular construction can make to addressing the state and nation’s housing challenges.

“Queensland has created some of the strongest conditions in the country for modular construction, and that certainty has allowed manufacturers like Fleetwood to invest, build capability and deliver at scale,” Ms Pidcock said.

“Modular construction enables high-quality homes to be built faster in a controlled factory environment, while also supporting apprenticeships, local jobs and long-term skills development.”

Ms Pidcock said Fleetwood welcomed the opportunity to engage with the Minister and his advisors and to showcase modern modular construction in action.
