Administration building, two GLAs and new canteen

Overview

Fleetwood was contracted by the Department of Education and Training (DET) Queensland, through a Project Management company to undertake a full turnkey project for the design, manufacture, supply and install, test and commission of:

  • One administration building
  • Two general learning area buildings
  • A toilet block
  • Canteen and covered walkways

The extended scope of works involved building demolitions, installation of all site-wide infrastructure and landscape works, new ‘centre of network’, information and communications technology, security provisions as well as renovations to existing buildings.

Solution

The project required a bespoke design and the scope of works involved the demolition of existing buildings on site and the management and removal of asbestos. There was also a requirement to replace and re-route the ageing site-wide infrastructure. The timing of the project was critical with all works undertaken over the Christmas holidays; to meet the tight time frame for deliverables there was an innovative approach to the design and manufacture of the sub-floor structures to help expedite the works.

Benefits

In the short term, the school aesthetics were enhanced with a new street facade in readiness for the start of the school year. The school has also benefited from the new facilities as they replaced ageing facilities on campus that all students and teachers will be able to utilise moving forward.
