NSW Modular Building Systems to re-brand to Fleetwood Australia

Sydney, 2021. Fleetwood Australia is pleased to announce that their 2018 acquired NSW business, Modular Building Systems (MBS), is officially joining the national brand stable from January 1, 2022. Fleetwood Australia purchased the highly successful MBS in 2018 and now has nine sites across Australia. As the largest modular builder in New South Wales, with over 18 years’ experience, the partnership with MBS has strengthened Fleetwood’s national offering.

MBS brings outstanding depth of experience in modular building in the custodial, educational, defence, tourism and hospitality, leisure, commercial and multi-storey residential sectors. The increased capacity and depth of experience was instrumental in Fleetwood Australia’s recent successful bid to build The Centre for National Resilience quarantine facilities in Victoria and Queensland. MBS has pioneered the use of modular construction in the custodial and defence sectors in Australia, working closely with both State and Federal Governments with their unique modular cell product.

Fleetwood Australia CEO, Bruce Nicholson, comments “The timing is right for MBS to re-brand to Fleetwood Australia. We have spent the last three years integrating the best of both businesses in terms of the customer service experience, design capabilities, construction methodologies, sustainability and green builds, technology, and innovation and most importantly the integration of our people and culture to ensure we deliver the best products and services for our customers.

“The entire construction industry is on the precipice of great change – with offsite manufacturing disrupting and challenging traditional construction with our state-of-the-art architecturally led designs and technology, delivering building solutions in a fraction of the time, with the additional sustainability and amenity benefits for the community.

“With the official inclusion of NSW as a Fleetwood Australia branded business – we have an unparalleled, national offering with the largest modular manufacturing capability to deliver across all major sectors. With a truly national footprint, we are leveraging production across many states to ensure the rapid delivery of projects that support our clients,” Mr Nicholson concluded.

Mr Nicholson further comments, “We are excited for the year ahead for all three of our businesses. Despite the challenges presented by rolling COVID shutdowns in the first half of this year, Fleetwood and the industry are poised to capitalise on the opportunities available in the market.

“Our ability to manufacture high quality facilities at speed, means that we can be a significant part of the recovery solution, as there are no quicker ways to deliver large volumes of buildings into the market than off-site manufacturing and we don’t face many of the uncertainties and challenges traditional construction is currently grappling with.

“The advantage for us being an off-site manufacturing company is that we can easily adapt to changing regulations as we work in a controlled, factory environment. Using our prefabrication method allows our factories to be set up for physical distancing as required. Our teams find it easier to adhere to strict COVID-19 guidelines, compared to traditional on-site construction, where there may be several trades on-site at the same time in a more confined location.

“If nothing else, the last 18 months have taught us to be resilient, to work differently and to stay connected to one another as much as we can. Fleetwood looks forward to being an integral part of Australia’s road to recovery,” Mr Nicholson concluded.
